Learn some interesting facts about Switzerland:

- Do you know the name of the capital? If you thought the capital was Geneva or Zurich, you’ll be surprised to learn that the capital is Bern. 

 

- The currency is the Swiss franc.

 

- Four national languages are recognized in Switzerland: French, Italian, German and Romansh.

 

- Designated the national dish in the 1930's, fondue is a typical Swiss dish. It consists of pieces of food such as meat and bread dipped in melted cheese kept in a portable pan. In 1950, the term fondue became widespread for its use in other food combinations such as chocolate fondue, which is a variation of the dish in which pieces of fruit are dipped in a mixture of melted chocolate. Have you ever tried fondue?

 

- The popular Toblerone chocolate, found in many countries, is Swiss.

 

- The Swiss Alps are something to enjoy while visiting Switzerland. In addition to being beautiful, they are very tall: more than 200 mountains measure taller than 3000 meters.
