How Many Or How Much Learn How To Use Quantifiers
'How Many' Or 'How Much'? - Learn How To Use Quantifiers
Jun 30, 2021 / English / 1 mins read

A quantifier is a word or phrase used to express either: the quantity of something or the amount of something. Quantifiers are usually placed before a noun and we use different ones to describe countable and uncountable nouns.

✅ With countable nouns, we ask how many?

Countable nouns are nouns which have a singular and a plural form and can be counted. They are usually concrete things like magazines, boxes or chairs.

Examples:

- How many books are there in the box?

- How many shoes does she have?

✅ With uncountable nouns, we ask how much?

Uncountable nouns have only a singular form and cannot be counted. They are usually abstractions (e.g. confidence or advice) or collectives (e.g. equipment or luggage).

Examples:

- How much sleep did you get last night?

- How much sugar do we need to make the cake?

Let’s practice!

Write sentences with 'how many' and 'how much' in the comments section.
