Patagonia is 260,000 square miles of beautiful lakes, mountains and wildlife in Argentina and Chile.

Discover 3 interesting facts about Patagonia today:

- El Calafate, a city in southern Patagonia in Argentina, is named after a local fruit believed to be magical - anyone who eats the little blue-black calafate berry or jelly is said to always return!

- Millions of penguins live in Patagonia!

The Magellanic penguin species was named after the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan, who documented seeing the species on his voyage through South America in 1519.

- In the same seafaring off the coastline of Patagonia in 1519, Ferdinand Magellan also reported finding giants on Patagonia's beaches - people at least twice the normal height of adult humans.
