How To Use Indefinite Plural Pronouns

Today you will learn about indefinite plural pronouns.

 

✅ Both = Two people or things viewed together

Ex: Both of them are ready for school.

 

✅ Few = A small quantity of things or people.

Ex: Few were late for class today.

 

✅ Fewer = A smaller quantity of things or people.

Ex: Fewer were absent from class.

 

✅ Many = A large quantity of things or people.

Ex: Many are going to the concert.

 

✅ Others = Other people, not us.

Ex: I think that others have already been here.

 

✅ Several = More than two things or people but not many. 

Ex: They were all ready to go so several left early.


 

Singular or Plural:

These are indefinite pronouns that can be singular or plural depending on whether what is being referred to is singular or plural.


 

✅ All = The whole amount of something, some things, or people.

Examples:

- All is forgiven.

- All were very hungry.

 

✅ Any = It doesn’t matter how much or how many.

Examples:

- Is there any left?

- Ask any of them, they will tell you.

 

✅ More = A larger amount of something, some things, or people.

Examples:

- There is more in the kitchen.

- More are on their way.


 

✅ Most =  The majority, almost all. 

Examples:

- Most is complete.

- Most have arrived late. 


 

✅ None =  Not any, no people.

Examples:

- None has ever written such a great paper.

- None have written better papers before.

 

✅ Some = An unspecified amount of something, some things, or people.

Examples:

- There was a lot of furniture in the house, some was damaged.

- There were a lot of valuables in the house, some were stolen.
