We use many compound words made from the quantifiers some and any. Some and any express an incomplete or indefinite amount. 

✅ Some is generally used in positive statements.(I have some things to do.) or in questions where we know the answer (Can I have some tea?).

✅ Any is generally used in negative statements (I don’t have any friends.) or in questions where we do not know the answer (Do you have any tea?).

We often combine some, no and any with the words thing, one, body and where.

Examples:

- I have something to do.  -  Did you do anything today?

- Do you know someone here?  -  I do not know anyone here.

- I know somebody that works there.  -  Do you know anybody that works there?

- Are you going somewhere?  -  I am not going anywhere.

Compound words with no function similarly to words with any, generally conveying a negative meaning.

Examples:

- I have nothing to do today.

- I knew no one there.

- Nobody likes me!

- He has nowhere to go tomorrow night.
