In English, we can use an apostrophe to indicate possession. It  is used to indicate that something belongs to something or someone. In today's lesson you will learn the grammar rules for using this determiner.

✅ For singular nouns we use 's:

Examples:

- She wore Lisa’s dress yesterday.

- That is the dog's house.

- We went to Mark's cousin's party.

✅ For plural nouns we use ':

Examples:

- The girls’ restroom is on the second floor

- Have you seen the kittens' mother?

➡ For irregular plurals we use ´s:

Ex: I am going to the women's dressing room.

➡ For names ending with s we can use ‘s or‘, but it is more common to use ’ than ’s.

Ex: Jonas' sneakers are new.

✅ When the noun is too long or when the noun is not a person, animal, place, etc., we use of:

Examples:

- This is the house of my maternal grandmother.

- The name of the book has a special meaning.

Let’s practice! Write sentences indicating possession in the comments section.
