Boost your English with these phrasal verbs with "get":

 

✅ get down - separable (always) - to make someone unhappy.

Ex: Cold winter weather really gets me down.

 

✅ get down to - inseparable (with object) - to become serious and start something.

Ex: Now that lunch is over it’s time to get down to work

 

✅ get in - inseparable (no object) - to arrive.

Ex: Our flight gets in at 5:00 pm.

 

✅ get in - inseparable (no object) - to enter a car.

Ex: Can you please just get in? We’re going to be late.

 

✅ get into - inseparable (with object) - to be accepted or admitted into something.

Ex: I’ll be less stressed once I get into Oxford.

 

✅ get into - inseparable (with object) - to become interested in something.

Ex: Recently, I’ve gotten into miniseries. 

 

✅ get it together - inseparable (no object) - to become organized.

Ex: You’ve been unemployed for six months now. It’s time for you to get it together.

 

✅ get it together - inseparable (no object) - to become organized.

Ex: You’ve been unemployed for six months now. It’s time for you to get it together.

 

✅ get off - inseparable (with object) - to exit a bus or train.

Ex: I get off the bus at the next stop.

 

✅ get off - inseparable (with object) - to stop talking on the phone.

Ex: Can you tell me when Jill gets off the phone so I can use it?

 

✅ get off - inseparable (no object) - to finish work.

Ex: I get off every day at 6:00 pm.

 

✅ get on - inseparable (with object) - to enter a bus or train.

Ex: I’m about to get on the metro. Can I call you back when I’m at work?

 

✅ get on with - inseparable (with object) - to start or continue doing something.

Ex: Could you please get on with it already?

 

✅ get out - separable (always) - to remove something from where it was stored.

Ex: I got all of these old photo albums out so we could go through them.
