14 nov. 2021 / Engels / 1 minuten gelezen

When talking about things we read, watch or listen to, it can be common for English learners to confuse the words ‘chapter’ and ‘episode’. Do you know in which situations we use these words? In today's lesson you will learn what they mean and how to use them.

✅ Chapter:

It is used to refer to the divided parts of text in a book. Generally, a chapter is named with a title or number.

Examples:

- We have to read Chapter 10 and do the exercises.

- The second chapter describes the theft.

- He just finished reading the last chapter of the book.

✅ Episode:

Refers to a part of a story broadcast on radio, television or the internet such as a TV series, soap opera, or podcasts.

Examples:

- That season has 18 episodes.

- She missed the last episode of the soap opera.

-  I love this TV program! The last episode was very interesting.

- I really enjoyed that episode about idioms of this podcast!
