Too Or Very What S The Difference
‘Too’ Or ‘Very’? What’s The Difference?
2020년 12월 1일 / 영어 / 1 분 읽기

We use 'too' and 'very' to intensify adverbs and adjectives, but there is a difference in how to use them.

✅ Very

Used for emphasis.

Examples:

- The manager was very impressed with the performance of the employees.

- I am very grateful for my life.

- The math test was very difficult.

- I am loving this book! The reading is very enjoyable.

✅ Too

Too is used in the sense of 'more than enough' and overly.

Examples:

- She drives too fast.

- The food is too salty.

- It’s too soon to say if it will be possible.

Note that ‘too’ is used to set a negative tone, so if you want to praise something, don’t use it.

- I like your new haircut. It is too stylish! - INCORRECT ❌

(It expresses that the haircut shouldn't be so stylish)

- I like your new haircut. It is very stylish! - CORRECT ☑

(It sounds like a compliment)
