A common “small talk” topic is the weather. So when meeting people and making friends in Portuguese, it can be very helpful to know this vocabulary associated with seasons and weather.

☑ O verão - The summer

☑ O outono - The autumn

☑ O inverno - The winter


 

Phrases about the weather:

 

- Está frio hoje.

(It's cold today)

 

- A primavera começa amanhã.

(Spring starts tomorrow)

 

- Como está o tempo aí?

(How is the weather there?)

 

- Está chovendo.

(It's raining)

 

- Nossa! Está muito calor hoje!

(Wow! It is very hot today!)

 

- Que calor!

(It’s hot!)

 

- Coloque uma blusa, está ventando lá fora!

(Put on a blouse, it's windy outside)
