There are words in English that are very similar in sound that can be particularly challenging for English learners. This is the case with the words ‘word’ and ‘world’ where the ‘L’ sound makes all the difference.
➡ Word = a thing that you say.
Ex: I didn't say a word about that to my mother.
➡ World = Earth, universe.
Ex: Oh, this the best cake in the world!
