But Vs Although Learn The Difference
‘But’ vs. ‘Although’ - Learn The Difference
2021年7月26日 / 英语 / 1 分钟阅读

We use “but” and “although” to express contrast.

➡ “But” goes in the middle of the sentence.

➡ “Although” can go at the beginning or in the middle of the sentence.

Examples:

- Today is a public holiday, but I am going to work.

- Although today is a public holiday, I am going to work.

- I am going to work, although today is a public holiday.

- I have a fever, but I am going to work.

- Although I have a fever, I am going to work.

- I am going to work, although I have a fever.

Let’s practice!

Fill in the blanks with ‘but’ or ‘although’:

1) She asked him to wash the dishes, ___________ he is sleeping.

2) ___________ she asked him to wash the dishes, he is sleeping.

3) He is sleeping, ___________ she asked him to wash the dishes.
