Business English Expressions What You Will Hear In A Us Office
Business English Expressions - What You Will Hear in a US Office
2021年2月2日 / 英语 / 5 分钟阅读

While the work environment in English is generally considered more formal, there is a whole universe of business English expressions, or slang, that you will hear in professional settings, so it is important that you familiarize yourself with these expressions. In the United States, this slang is often called corporate jargon.

Check out this list of some of the most common corporate jargon expressions, and make sure to memorize what they mean.

What you will hear:

What it means:

Can you ping me later?

Can you contact me later?

We will circle back on this project later.

We will continue this project later.

Let me revert back to you on that question.

Give me some time to come back with an answer.

Let’s take this conversation offline.

Let’s discuss this privately.

We need to go back to the drawing board with this project.

We need to start over.

We need to action this plan immediately.

We need to do (or execute) this plan immediately.

This product will be a game changer.

This product will be really innovative.

I have been out of the loop, so can you update me?

I have not been involved, so can you update me?

We don’t want to reinvent the wheel.

We don’t want to waste time doing something that has already been done.

Do you have the bandwidth to work on this?

Do you have time to work on this?

We have to define our value-add.

We have to define what we offer.

Can you update me on what’s in the pipeline?

Can you update me on what work is coming?

We leverage our talents to offer the best service.

We take advantage of our talents to offer the best service.

This problem requires us to think outside the box.

This problem requires us to think creatively.

Let’s drill down the process.

Let’s analyze the process.

We may have to pivot to increase revenue.

We may have to change our business model to increase our revenue.

Our process needs to be scalable.

Our process needs to easily expandable and replicable.

Can I pick your brain about this problem?

Can I consult you about this problem.

Our goal is industry disruption.

Our goal is to change the industry.

You are using a lot of buzzwords.

You are using a lot of corporate jargon.

Are you feeling ready to leverage your corporate jargon? Let’s take this conversation offline - and online! - with the LIM platform and practice more business English. LIM makes scheduling your lesson in any language quick and easy. Come pick our brains!
