- There are more than 30 volcanoes in Guatemala including Pacaya, Fuego and Santiaguito.
- Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tikal National Park is considered one of the greatest architectural treasures of the Mayan civilization.
Among the various old buildings are six pyramids with temples on the top which were built between the 7th and 9th centuries.
- Quetzal is the name of the national bird. The beautiful bird with colorful plumage and a long tail is also the name of the Guatemalan currency.
