The best season to see it is between the end of September and the beginning of March (autumn and winter in the northern hemisphere). And one of the best places to see it is Kirkjufell, the country's most photographed mountain.
- Thingvellir National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are tectonic plates from North America and Eurasia that move about an inch apart each year.
- Icelandic, the official language, contains words with many consonants. An example of this is the name of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano.
