Have you ever been to Austria? In today’s post you will learn some interesting facts about this country:

- The official language in Austria is German.

- Austria has 8 border countries: Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Liechtenstein, Italy and Switzerland.

- Vienna is the capital and largest city in Austria.

- Classical music composers like Mozart,  J. Strauss and Schubert are Austrians; as well as Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis.

- The beautiful mountain scenery of the Alps stretches across much of the country. The tallest mountain is Grossglockner, at 3,798 meters high.

- Austria does not have direct access to the ocean, so it is considered a landlocked country.

- Have you ever eaten any Austrian desserts?

One of the most traditional is Sachertorte, a cake with two layers of chocolate dough, a thin layer of apricot jam and a bitter chocolate coating. The cake was created in 1832 by the confectioner Franz Sacher. The recipe was created for Prince Metternich in Vienna, and today the brand "Original Sachertorte" is registered by the Hotel Sacher, built in 1876, by the son of Franz Sacher.
