Of Course Or Off Course Which Is Correct
"Of Course" or "Off Course": Which is Correct?
2021. febr. 2. / Angol / 2 perc olvasni

Of course or off course? Which one to use?

If you only knew of course with an f, learn today in this post what is the meaning of each term and in what situation to use them:

✅ Of course:

1) Can be used as an affirmative answer for someone who is asking permission to do something.

Example:

-  Can I borrow your blue pen please?

- Of course you can.

We also have the negative version  “of course not”:

Example:

- I'm still stuck in traffic! Do you mind if I’m late?

- Of course not!

2) Used when talking about some obvious information.

Example:

The students were released from school, of course at midday, as usual.

It is curious that just one more letter alters the whole meaning:

✅ Off course:

Refers to something that didn't go as planned, that went off course. This could be a plane, ship, idea, project, etc.

Examples:

- At that moment the captain realized that the ship was off course.

- We need to talk about the project. It is off course.

Have you ever been confused by these words?

Let’s practice!
