Have you ever been to Spain? Learn some interesting facts about this country in today’s lesson.

- Recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, the “human tower” is a tradition among Catalans that symbolizes union and class equality. People of all ages climb onto each other's backs and shoulders to create human towers. Teams have been competing at this since the 1980s and the practice is a cultural heritage for the people of Catalonia.

- Renowned artists such as Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso and Gaudí are Spanish.

- Spain has its own version of the Tooth Fairy (tradition in several western countries) called Ratón Pérez (Perez Mouse). When children lose a baby tooth, they put it under the pillow and then Ratón Pérez fetches the tooth and leaves a small gift for the child. In Madrid there is the Casita-Museo de Ratón Pérez, dedicated to the character's history.

- Originating from Andalusia, flamenco is a lively combination of singing, guitar playing and dancing that is a mixture of cultures.

Flamenco performances include palms, castanets and guitars.

The Flamenco Dance Museum, in Seville, founded by Cristina Hoyos, a famous flamenco dancer, is a place to learn more about this beautiful cultural heritage of Spain.
