Learn How To Use "I Wish"

Have you ever wondered how to say you want or wish for something in English? It is very common to be asked about desires when speaking English, so today we will learn useful English expressions with "wish".

 

Note: When expressing wishes, the word that is optional. It is sometimes useful to make the idea clear. Other times, it is better to not use this word, to avoid a cluttered sentence.

 

If only is stronger and more formal than wish. It gives more emphasis to what we are saying. It can be used in a clause by itself or it can be added to another clause. When we use if only in the third form, we are often expressing deep regret.
