‘May Or ‘Might’? Learn How To Use These Words
14. nov. 2021 / Engelsk / 1 min læst

We use “may” and “might” when something is possible, but not 100% certain.

Examples:

- Yesterday, I was offered a job in Mexico City. I may accept it. (I am not certain.)

- My sister might come with us. (She has not decided.)

- It might rain tomorrow. (It is possible.) They may not know the answer.

FORM

Subject + may (not) + verb

Subject + might (not) + verb

“May” and “might” remain the same for all persons. “I may”, “you may”, “she may”, “we may”, etc. When we use “may” or “might”, we are talking about the future or the present.

2.) We also use “may” to ask permission.

Examples.

- May I borrow your pen? (Can I borrow your pen?)

- May we use the bathroom?

- May I look at your photo album?
